Development of a low-frequency vibration-assisted drilling device for difficult-to-cut materials

In the drilling process of difficult-to-cut materials, conventional has resulted in various problems such as high temperature and poor machining quality. Low-frequency vibration-assisted great potential overcoming these since broken chips are generated. this paper, a low-frequency device is developed by using novel ring flexure hinge elastic recovery mechanism. Firstly, based on theory mechanics mechanical vibration, deflection designed theoretically, influence its structural parameters analyzed. Then, correctness theoretical design further verified static dynamic simulation stiffness test. Finally, vibration performance tested under no-load condition, actual test conducted to verify performance. The results show that could realize axial with constant frequency-to-rotation ratio amplitude stepless adjustment present good working stability load conditions. titanium alloy carbon fiber–reinforced plastic (CFRP)/titanium laminated structure, appropriate processing breaks chip into small pieces reduces 44% inhibits secondary damage CFRP. It provides reference guidance for development LFVAD presented work.
